Glenn I. Swimmer, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Swimmer is a clinical psychologist with experience in behavioral health and pain management. He has been in practice for more than 25 years and is the president of StressCare and the Director of PainCare of Northwest Ohio. Dr. Swimmer has published research in the area of chronic pain. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Pain Initiative and the Northwestern Ohio Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Dr Swimmer has served as an Adjunct Faculty Member of the University of Michigan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, as well as on the Board of the Midwest Pain Society. He was invited to speak on Pain and Addiction for the Ohio Psychological Association, and to participate in an "Expert Roundtable" on chronic pain sponsored by the Columbus Medical Association.

 

David Lewandowski, M.Ed., PCC-S, LICDC-CS

Mr. Lewandowski holds a Masters of Education Degree in Counseling from the University of Toledo. He is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio as well as a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Ohio. He has provided addiction treatment both for inpatient and outpatient facilities. He has been the Clinical Supervisor of two outpatient facilities for chemical dependency treatment. He has extensive experience in all forms of addiction as well as Family and Marital Therapy. Mr. Lewandowski also provides pain management treatment and has extensive knowledge in that area. Mr. Lewandowski has special interests in working with adolescents, chronic pain, and military veterans and their families.

 

Sarah S. Schendel, LISW

Ms. Schendel holds a Master's in Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker. She has over 30 years of experience as a therapist working with adults and young adults in individual and family therapy. She has worked in mental health clinics, in a college counseling center, and in private practice. She is particularly interested in working with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, spirituality, and issues associated with aging and health. She enjoys the process of helping individuals learn to cope better with their lives and identify their own strengths.

 

Lawrence Moyer, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Moyer has been in private practice for 30 years. During that time, he has held a number of simultaneous positions at other facilities and institutions. Dr. Moyer was the Chief Consulting Psychologist at Sunshine Children's Home for the developmentally disabled for 10 years. In addition, he was the Director of Outpatient Services at Flower Hospital's Chemical Dependence Center from 1981-1987. Dr. Moyer served as Clinical Director of Cummings-Zucker Community Mental Health Center which served children, adolescents and families, from 1990-1997. Dr. Moyers was the Clinical Director of Premier Associates, Ltd., providing geropsychological services at six long-term care facilities from 1990-2003. Dr. Moyer was a faculty member and Clinical Director in the Department of Psychiatry's Kobacker Center from 1997-2003. He supervised Psychiatry Medical Residents, was on the Residency Training Committee, and directed a staff of 30 mental health professionals in the Medical College's Partial Hospitalization Program. Currently, Dr. Moyeris is also practicing geropsychology at local Long-Term Care Facilities and sees patients two days per week at Mercy St. Vincent's Pain Management Clinic.

Dr. Moyer has presented numerous talks and seminars ranging in areas of chemical dependence, geriatric problems, child, adolescent, adult and family problems, and sexual abuse. He has treated sexual abuse victims and sexual perpetrators and sexual addiction. Dr. Moyer treats adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He engages in individual and group therapy as well. Dr. Moyer is available for treatment, psychological/chemical dependence assessment, psychological evaluations, psychotherapy, and consultation services. Dr. Moyer also accepts Adult Children of Alcoholics. He has taught Graduate School Courses at The University of Toledo and Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan.

Dr. Moyer graduated with his PhD in 1981. He completed his Pre-Doctoral Internship at The University of Toledo's Health Services where he was awarded "Intern of the Year" and "The Board of Trustees Scholarship Award." He completed his Post-Doctoral Residency at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. Dr. Moyer's dissertation was entitled "The Effects of Empathy Training on Levels of Self-Actualization in Senior Citizens." He maintains numerous professional and Honor Society affilitations and is on staff at The Toledo Hospital and Mercy St. Vincent's Hospital. Dr. Moyer is currently on staff at StressCare Behavioral Health, Inc. He will, whenever indicated, work and consult with patients' physicians.

 

John Lodge, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Lodge is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Ohio with a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Wright State University’s School of Professional Psychology. He has worked in outpatient clinics, community mental health centers, and a college counseling center. Dr. Lodge has experience working with adults, children, and adolescents in individual, family, and group-based psychotherapy. Dr. Lodge also has experience conducting comprehensive psychological assessment batteries for a wide range of behavioral and psychological issues. His clinical interests include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, stress management, anger management, behavioral pain management, psychological assessment, and working with individuals of diverse multicultural backgrounds and identities.

 

Diane Derr Lewis, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Lewis is a Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience providing psychological services to a variety of clients. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, nursing homes, and acute care medical centers. She has provided individual, marital, and group psychotherapy, as well as psychological assessments. She has also performed specialized assessments related to Bureau of Workers' Compensation issues. Dr. Lewis has special interests in working with chronic pain, behavioral medicine, spirituality, end of life issues, women's issues, depression, and anxiety. She has served as Director of a mental health center psychology department and President of the Board of a local American Cancer Society unit. She is licensed in Ohio and is on most insurance panels.

 

Vikki Gardner, MA, PCC-S, CHt

Ms. Gardner is a supervising Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Certified Hypnotherapist, has been in the mental health field for two decades and is trained in individual, group, marital, family counseling and clinical hypnotherapy. She enjoys working with a wide variety of populations but has special interest in adolescents, women’s issues, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, PTSD, anger management, as well as working with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, spiritual practices, or those from the lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender community. Ms. Gardner employs techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Individual Psychotherapy, Relaxation Skills Training, Brief Therapy and Hypnosis to help the individuals with whom she works achieve their goals and realize their potential.

 

Linda Yarick, PhD, LICDC, ICACDC, SAP

Linda has more has more than 17 years of experience in co-occurring mental health and substance abuse counseling. She received her PhD in Organizational Psychology from Capella University and is a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. She has extensive experience in substance abuse counseling and has provided addiction treatment both for inpatient and outpatient facilities. She was also a part-time instructor at Dorsey Schools in Michigan. She is currently a Psychology Resident with StressCare Behavioral Health, Inc. providing assessments and counseling. Her interests include chronic pain management, women’s issues, depression, anxiety, spirituality and grief.
